Leaving, Not Soon Enough

I thought I'd better try out the new version of blogger. We plan to leave EARLY Monday morning (1/1) and be gone for three months. We've had enough green, We've had enough cold, We've had enough staying home for awhile. We've had enough tree work! It's taking a long time to get the trailer loaded and the house cleaned and etc. We are off to a wedding tonight and a party tomorrow night leaving too little work time.
I'm not sure how often we will have internet access on this trip. We plan to spend more time in fewer, and mainly public, parks. So don't expect my usual frequent updates but we'll keep you up on where we are when we can. We DO have a committment to be in Tuscon on January 25 as Kirsten is flying down for her first desert experience.

A top of split cedar tree split yet again. One half fell against the carport and the other flew over the roof. Posted by Picasa

This one flew over the top of the house and dinged the roof a little. Posted by Picasa

This one just missed the corner of the house. Posted by Picasa

Storm #3

Luckily we were in Port Townsend celebrating Kit's birthday when storm #3 hit(Thursday night). We made it home Friday afternoon. Our ferry had blown away in the storm and the Coast Guard had to check it for damage--so our 2pm ferry was the first one of the day. No power on the island until 9pm Sunday night. I was so glad we had been gone when I saw all the trees on our house just outside of our bedroom. Actually it was just two broken tops of cedars: One split yet again and sailed over our room and the other fell and just missed the corner of the house. I am posting a few photos. We've been hauling branches, chainsawing, burning, and etc for 3 days now and haven't made a dent. Don't I wish we were in Arizona where there are no trees.
