Home

After 24 hours in transit, we arrived home on the 8:30 ferry on Friday night. I've come home with a cold so have been sleeping most of the weekend. Now it's time to get back to reality as we have almost no food in the house. Thursday we were still in France. Had morning coffee with Ray and Nadine at their house in Caux, lunch with Richard and Chris at the house we had been staying in... and headed back with our rental car to the airport in Montpellier. Our hotel was so close to the airport, it was less than a 1 minute walk back to the hotel. There is not a lot of plane traffic in and out of Montpellier so it was a quiet night but we had no windows to open which is why I think I caught this cold. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant--what a surprise--the food was wonderful. This was one of our best meals in France this trip. Friday morning we caught the 5:30 am shuttle to the airport. Then was the ordeal of 3 flights and 2 long walks through airports. Luckily this time we had directions as to where we needed to go in Charles de Gaulle.
It was quite a shock coming home. Our weather in France the last week was northwest drizzle but considerably warmer. It is COLD here and truly fall. I am looking out the window at a yellow maple tree. So, this latest adventure is now officially over but I still plan to post some photos of the bike trip for our biking cohorts--that will happen sometime this week.

Go figure

We packed our shorts. We packed the sunscreen. It was going to rain indefinitely. Today was our shopping in Pezanas day. So of course the sun comes out. Not wanting to waste the weather, we eat lunch quickly and head out on a hike. Though the start of the hike is not far from here it seems to take us forever to find it and then the start has been moved. These French hikes are beautifully laid out and well marked. This was a 10k hike, Easy, with yellow bars marking the way. It took us up into a pine forest country with heather and scrub and olive trees and lots of scenic vistas. Plus the vineyards which are everywhere in this part of the world. Nice hike though I am not usually an afternoon hiking person.
Tomorrow evening Richard and Chris come home so we have to do our packing and housecleaning and last minute shopping PLUS we hope to find time for an adventure. Thursday afternoon we take the car back to the airport and check into the hotel there. Our flight leaves Early Friday morning.
