Interlude in Vancouver
We always choose to celebrate our birthdays in whatever city our daughter is currently living. So last week we went up to Vancouver to celebrate Kit's birthday with 2 nights in the Sylvia Hotel, and 2 fine dinners on Denman Street. (Kirsten came down to stay with us for a vacation in her own "home town". ) We headed up on a Sunday and after a Pho lunch we walked the sea wall and took the little ferry to Granville Island where we spent a pleasant afternoon shop hopping and drooling at the wonderful food. Monday we spent nearly all day at the Vancouver Aquarium. Kit and I had been there in May but not seen all the exhibits. This time it was much less crowded. The 4D show was The Polar Express--much fun--us and all the kids. We got to see the dolphin show (Did you every try to snap a photo of a dolphin in the air. I took lots and this was the best I got) and the beluga show as well. Then a walk back to the hotel for a nap and sunset in the hotel bar.
