Four Days of Driving
I figure the trip to Canada was like flying to Amsterdam, then getting back on the plane and flying home. At least we could enjoy the scenery and stop when we wanted. Our GPS said 24 hours of driving. We didn't dally to take pictures. I should have taken one of our car after Kirsten packed all of her things in. She does an excellent job of packing. I have just completed the unpacking. I also would have loved a photo of all the fire/erosion damage around Twisp but we were following the pilot car. The road was partially washed out and looks like they will be working on it until the snow falls. The road to Pateros where the fire was the worst is still closed to through traffic.
Since Kirsten is staying with a friend she got us a room at a really nice resort near Invermere. There were 2 pools and 3 hot tubs. Kit tried all the hot tubs. More good beer and food too. On our way back we stayed at a motel in Omak-- $45 a night including a hot breakfast. No PBS in Omak though so we missed one night of "The Roosevelts". Good Mexican restaurant down the street. We had stayed here before so didn't have to spend hours looking. Friday it was back home and into the rain. Managed to squeeze in some oatmeal and milk--and my computer which was in the shop. We have not had good luck with electronics lately. Now Kit's phone is not working. But we are home--and the sun is shining again.

Flume walker
Very quick trip. Back in US on trip home. Our favorite route over Hwy 20. Nice stretch break at site of an old logging flume. Two days ago all of the deciduous trees in WA were green. Like magic they are now turning yellow

On our way to BC
We have pretty good luck finding motels with pubs next door. This sports bar is just a few feet from our motel room in Colville WA. They have my favorite beer. 8 hours on the road today through beautiful though smoky country. Still a long drive to Invermere to fetch Kirsten's stuff
