Salton City
We have made it to the Salton Sea. A day of driving though dusty skies. My eyes burn and hope for clear air in Tucson. We have been coming to this RV park since we started RVing. It's on a decline we know. We have beat most of the winter people so it's pretty dead. (joke for Halloween). In the old days there would have been a Halloween Dance but now it's just a Hobo Stew Dinner to which we are not going. Trying to cool down the rig. If we can get an early start tomorrow we can make it to Tucson.

Orange Grove RV
Alas the oranges aren't ready to pick until January. Taken last night but trying WiFi in our next camp.
Bakersfield
Have great photo on my iPad but wifi doesn't work. We came into Orange Grove mid afternoon yesterday. Us and the very big rigs.

3 Days to Summer
After 3 days of travel we have reached summer. It has been 80 degrees much of the afternoon. Had to switch from sweatshirts to shorts. Today was a really long travel day. Left before 9--cool gloomy fog and drove almost 7 hours. Arrived near Lodi south of Sacramento about 4:30. Stopped for lunch in Redding at the Sundial Bridge park. Was 72 and very pleasant there so would have like to linger to hike or bike--but instead we pushed on. Not much to say about driving down I5. We will likely switch to 99 tomorrow as we head on to Bakersfield.

Nice meal of pumpkin turkey enchiladas and caprese salad from the Market. We are stopped at Valley of the Rogue State park. Freeway noise but fine walking paths. Tomorrow California
Vacation from i5
Couldn't pass Eugene without stopping at Market of Choice. Lovely cases of salads and prepared foods, amazing wine collection, great breads, etc. Now it's back to freeway south to Douglas County

On the road
After 5 weeks with no car ferry, the Guemes came back in time to take us on a short sea voyage. Now we are on i5--our home for days to come- heading to Arizona. The weather is as fine as we could expect for winter travel. Departure was easy since Kirsten will be staying in our house for awhile. No draining the pipes routine..
