Slice of life--Rain
A real rain day today--even by NW standards. Instead of sitting by the fire drinking tea --it's a "work day"--ie shopping and cleaning. Even one day of heavy rain here brings puddling in our park streets and flooding on some city roads--dry washes gushing water.
Today: I bought a new swimsuit, went to Total Wine, won THREE games of MahJongg in a row, (Wow). Now it's time to get dinner before the Friday $1 movie night.

Not even spring
We're still a week away from February and weather is chilly with hint
Of rain. Yet we found this blooming globemallow in Pima Canyon today. This was our almost 4 mile hike for the week. Tomorrow a bike ride if it doesn't rain

Desert water
Thursday we ( Kit and I) went on a field trip with the park biologist to Madrona Pools. This cool spot is off limits to the general public. This trip was part of a week of training. Friday I was all day in first aid class. More training next week but I am not going.

Red Safe
Sorry for the out of focus photo. In this red safe were codes and keys necessary to launch a nuclear missile (Titan 2). Two people had combination. Once codes confirmed it was indeed a Presidential order it took 2 keys 2 people to start the launch which could not be stopped. Luckily it never happened.
Titan Missile
Here is a tiny part of the 103 foot Titan Missile. Too cold for outdoor activity we decided to go to the Titan Missile museum. This is the only remaining of 54 missile silos once found in 3 states in the US. It was operational from 1963 to 1983.

Happy New Year
We had a nice hike in the National Park on New Years Eve despite impending rain. ( which held off til late afternoon ). Went out to dinner with friends and then stayed up til 11:30.
Dusting of snow on the ground. We are due for a very chilly New Years Day so will likely stay indoors.
