Yes We are Home

Somehow as I get close to home the blog goes out of my mind. Our last week was pretty much about visiting friends and family. Our last rainy morning in Eugene I got a new phone (iPhone SE) so now I am cutting edge. We had a nice visit with Kirsten and got to see her dress rehearsal of the woodpecker samba for the procession of the species. (No good pictures--my new phone has a great camera but I don't know how to use it.).

Came home on the 4:00 ferry on Monday. Our septic system was not working (the pump) and we had no propane. I really hate transitions anyway. These problems were resolved to day and our washing machine will hopefully get fixed tomorrow. So it's back to life as usual. We have had two unusually warm summer days but that looks to be soon back to usual too.

Moving Along

I totally forgot to document yesterday which was a long driving day (328m) from Boise to Bend. We headed straight to Tumalo State Park where the campground was FULL. So had to turn around and return to find Crown Villa RV resort which was very park like but more expensive. Nice night there.

Today was only 147 miles to Eugene. Late start as we went to High Desert Museum which didn't open til 10. Spent 2 hours but it's not like "our" desert museum. After lunch drove over the mountains to Eugene. No photos of the many snow covered peaks. Came to Armitage park by beer time. Almost 8 pm and it's still light.

Idaho Summer

Folks here must think it's summer. 77 today. Our favorite state park was totally full so we had lunch and continued to Boise. This RV park is basically a gravel parking lot but our spot backs onto this lovely green grass shaded by huge trees. Just beyond the fence is the Greenway bike trail. I think there are 22 miles but we only rode 4 out and 4 back. I just hit 300 miles on my bike since Jan 1.

Idaho

We are just leaving the City of Rocks National Reserve. Geology along the California Trail. It would have been an interesting place to camp but we didn't. Instead we got ripped off in the next door state park RV camp. Primo price but no water and bathrooms were locked. Hope for better luck At next State Park

Other side of bike trail

Bike break

We went back to explore Capital Reef this morning. Then continued north. Stopped for the day in Provo-- in time for a bike ride along the nice river trail.
Kit is on the other side.

Natural Bridges

We spent most of the morning at this National Monument. The rest of the day we spent driving through awesome scenery. Finally got to Capital Reef NP but the campground was full.

Utah

Drove through monument valley today. Planned to stop at Goosenecks but it is very windy and no longer free camping:(. So came on to Bluff and staying in regular RV park. Kit is off on bike adventure. Wind blows here too

Cottonwood AZ

Big Rooster

We had lunch at the Red Rooster in Old Cottonwood and found a shortcut home.

No drive day

We had a nice bike ride to Tuzigoot NM last time we were here at Dead Horse Ranch. This time not so much. We got lost in the sand pit ant hill country. So came home by the highway which was also hellacious. If we come back to DH I will let Kit bike and I will explore the river trails.
PS. Broke a tooth this am. Hoping to make it home.

Away home

We left Tucson on Sunday and head north via back roads-- the Stan route--and avoided Phoenix. Had lunch with a view of Lake Roosevelt-- the little slice of blue. Then continued over 7000 ft pass and down to Dead Horse Ranch.
