Describes River
Long boring drive across Eastern
Oregon was worth it. This was taken outside the glass door of our motel room In Bend. Arrived early so have time to enjoy it.

Idaho State Capitol
Idaho
Today (Friday) we whizzed through Idaho. Had an early afternoon stop in Boise at the State Capitol Building. It was cool, Kit found a photo of his grandfather who was a Senator in the 19th Legislature (1928). We then went looking for the Boise Depot which we were told had a tower with a spectacular view. Alas the building was closed but the grounds and the view were fine. Then continued to Ontario Oregon where we are moored tonight. There is a pub just next door.

Utah
St George was lovely but had a crises on leaving. I couldn't find my glasses. We literally tore the room apart. Spent nearly an hour looking and even searched all our bags. Finally gave up and continued on our way. Decided to skip Snow Canyon this trip. Some year when I can actually hike again. Survived 2 days with only my prescription sun glasses. (Today my glasses miraculously appeared. They were in the little bag with all my phone cords. Don't ask me....)
Meanwhile we drove and drove. I hate Utah freeways so Kit did all the driving. We ended up in Brigham City for the night. Found a very nice (and not expensive) Hampton Inn down town right next to police station and courthouse and down the street from the tabernacle. I found a fabric shop and Kit went for a walk. He met a local legend.
Was a restaurant just next door with what they call these days "Home Cooking" which really means grandma's home cooking: meat and potatoes and no beer.

Super 8
Navajo bridge
Found a nice lunch stop at Navajo bridge over the green Colorado. Pardon Kit's finger. We left Winslow at 8 this am and landed late for us in St George Utah where we are pretty much ignoring the DST here.

Meteor Crater
Went out today to see the meteor crater. Best in the world. Really expensive because it's privately owned but actually kinda cool. We went on the guided walk
LaPosada
We are in the Frank Sinatra room at LaPosada. (All the rooms are named after stars who stayed here. ). It is a corner room with plenty of light. We are here for 2 nights. Wonderful hotel with great restaurant and comfortable bed. It is very cold here but leaving on an outing soon.

The Loop
Here is Kit leaving Tuesday morning to ride The Loop— a 54 mile bike trail around Tucson. He says it was easier by far than just the last 3 miles up Mt Lemmon. He reached the top —9000'—last week though he did it in 4 parts and not all at once. He now has almost 1000 miles on the new bike. Meanwhile I am doing my small back and forth rides. Made it up to 9 miles from 6.
