Kit and Carol on the Road

Sunday night we had dinner in the bar of the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Kit has grilled cheese and tomato soup and I had onion soup and caprese .
Monday we had lunch with Emily at the Red Monkey. Huge bbq chook sandwich Monday night was Indian food with left overs for lunch the next day. Tuesday night we found a great little French restaurant. They made room for us even without reservations. And breakfast every morn at our hotel. I am not fond of eating in restaurants every meal but we did OK.

So we drove over the Cascades and diagonally across the State to Walla Walla. No straight line though. Down the edge of Hanford, across the Columbia, Yakima and Snake Rivers.
After 8 hours in the car I could hardly walk.

We had been watching weather channel coverage of Tropical Storm Florence which mostly consisted of guys standing in the pouring rain talking about rising water somewhere else. Sunday morning we had our own downpour. Amazing after a very long dry summer. I was tempted to do a selfie in the rain but we were starting on a road trip over the mountains.
