Lost Week

Yes we are back in Tucson--since last Saturday. By Monday we were both totally wiped out with the flu. I basically slept for 2 days and today was my first day out of the house. (To the laundry room). Kit is recovering faster. I have one more sick day before Saturday when I am scheduled to lead a walk at the NP.

Our trip home turned out to be slightly adventurous. We took the shuttle from Anacortes Friday eve and spent the night at Sleep Inn so we could be handy for our morning flight. Horrid lines at the airport for checking luggage --luckily we were traveling light with carry on. Long lines for security. Luckily we had "pre check" which lets us breeze through. So we were doing fine--on the plane on time, the doors closed, ready to take off. No such luck. The Captain says we have a problem. We need a new part. We can get it from Hawaii--duh, or from the parts warehouse in Seattle. But the chosen option was to put us on a new plane. So we de-boarded. Walked as far as we could across the terminal and boarded our new plane. We were only an hour and a half late. Otherwise the flight was smooth and we got home before dark.

Frosted mushrooms

The weather has turned quite cold. Perfect for zinging rocks across the lagoon. And mother nature has frosted the mushrooms.

Meanwhile back in 2015

The year has turned but I thought I should put in a few words about our escape back to winter. We got to cut our own tree and I am leaving decorations up until just before we leave. Kirsten came home for 4 days at Christmas and it was fun having her here. We had 2 winter bonfires--burning some of last year's blowdown on Kirsten's lot ...and for our New Year's Eve burn --the branches that blew down in our yard this year. We've had a few social occasions --including a Chamber Music concert the weekend before Christmas and New Years Eve dinner last night with Bob and Omi. None of that midnight stuff for us. Mostly we have enjoyed "hibernating" .
Happy New Year.
